I rewatched The Running Man this past weekend. It remains one of my favorite movies not just for the pure, uncut 1980s action schlock, but also for the way it eviscerates our society’s love for the violence of televised sport. I wrote this piece in late 2015 and posted it on a blog nobody read, so I figured I’d let it see the light of day once more now that the film is on my mind again. Enjoy.
